Join us to continue the discussion about how Just Transition Hub in Salford can support people, community organisations, education and businesses. For this third conversation we will focus on solutions raised throughout the first discussion. Working to create tangible action plans, project ideas and development opportunities.
Background
We see the problem of the cost-of-living and climate crises as two sides of the same coin, with continued reliance on fossil fuels driving rising costs of energy, food, and travel. BITC’s Just Transition Hubs an ambition to raise £100 millions of value to communities over the next five years, with the aim of scaling up community-led initiatives that tackle the intersection of social and environmental problems.
The Purpose of the Community Conversation
The Community Conversation will enable us to continue the discussion about the support or role that the Just Transition Hub can have in Salford. We will build on discussions from the first event, looking to create action plans, projects and collaboration opportunities. These conversations will continue to be a crucial part of the processes for identifying the types of projects we will support and explore ways in which the Hub development can be leveraged through collaboration across different local sectors.
It’s core purpose, however, is to provide a forum for local organisations, local authority representatives and businesses, to determine and share their views on the most important challenges facing Salford which will then shape our priorities moving forward.
This an outline of the agenda for the day, with more detail to follow nearer the time:
