Start your day early with a 7:00 AM meet-up in Payson, AZ—home of the world’s oldest continuous rodeo. Your six-hour canyon adventure begins with a scenic drive along the Mogollon Rim, surrounded by sweeping high-country mountain views. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including antelope, elk, deer, bighorn sheep, turkey, black bear, and even the reintroduced Mexican gray wolf.
After gearing up, you’ll leave the vehicle behind and head cross-country through a pine forest before dropping into the canyon. At the canyon floor, the real adventure begins—testing your swimming and rock-hopping skills as you navigate slides, waterfalls, and downclimbs. Along the way, you’ll choose the best route forward, whether that means sliding, jumping, being lowered, or rappelling.
The highlight comes when you reach the edge of a waterfall with only one way to go—down. Suit up for an exhilarating rappel into the deep pool below. The journey continues with more full-body challenges before exiting the canyon and trekking cross-country once again. Finally, relax on the shuttle ride back to Payson—tired, accomplished, and smiling.
